Barbara O’Neil has consistently followed her calling to serve her community through the healing arts, teaching, and creating innovative healing programs for her 25 years as a health care practitioner.
Her formal training and experience is in a number of manual therapies that include therapeutic massage, craniosacral therapy, lymphatic drainage, visceral mobilization and foot reflexology (which she began practicing since age 12). Barbara has trained under world renowned teachers who have inspired her dedication to the healing art of touch. She is also a seasoned meditator, a trained intuitive, a Shamanic practitioner and a Pachakuti Mesa Tradition Carrier since 2003. Barbara weaves all of these practiced skills into an integrated bodywork session she describes as “energywork grounded in anatomy”.
Barbara earned her formal certification in Spiritual Direction after completing a 4 yr program through the Sacred Art of Living Center in Bend, Oregon, where both the ancient Ars Moriendi- or Art of Dying is explored in a cross cultural and modern application and completed an apprenticeship in the Celtic Anam Cara tradition where the Art, Science and Practice of Sacred Relationship is at the core. Barbara offers both bodywork and spiritual mentoring through her private practice at Anam Cara Center.
Besides her private practice Barbara established the Anam Cara Center to be a platform to launch a non profit ‘Anam-Care Initiative’ whose dual mission is to ‘bring back the soul of medicine’ to palliative and end of life care while fostering awareness of the vital role that holistic therapies, energy healing, ancestral wisdom and spirituality play in successful health care models.
Barbara is passionate about sharing her own healing journey and knowledge of holistic healing for personal and planetary transformation and facilitates many workshops throughout the year. Some of her programs include: Conscious Aging, Meditation, Shamanic Wisdom circles, Celtic spirituality, Reiki energy healing, and Massage for families and friends. Educational workshops based on the Anam Cara tradition of healing provided through our non profit division “The Anam-Care Initiative” supports and equips care providers to offer holistic services and compassionate visitations to palliative care and end of life patients, families and caregivers.
